It’s been a while since I gave out any details of my training, so as this is primarily a running blog, here it is:
I’m following my usual training schedule of 2 workouts, a long run (90-95 minutes) , an easy day (30-40 minutes), and three days of moderate running length (60-70 minutes) a week.
The workouts the last week have been really good. I am starting to move into more intense work, and I can certainly feel that the work I’ve done over the last four months has improved my aerobic capacity. For instance yesterday I ran a hard 3 mile loop 45 seconds faster than I’ve ever done it before, and then followed this up with 4x1000m and felt fantastic. It’s a great feeling to know that you’re in a good spot physically and the psychological boost of that just adds to an awesome feeling of well-being. I am feeling comfortable and running fast in practice. I know that it won’t always be this easy, but for now I’m enjoying the feeling of invincibility and looking forward to keeping on grinding away.
In other quick news, I have been spending a lot of time working and playing around with my fishtanks. I set up a new shrimp and plant tank, and replaced the substrate in my cichlid tank with sand: they both look really cool and I will have to put some photos up when I get them fully stocked. At The Kevin Dare Foundation (where I work, in case you missed that detail) there has been some really exciting things happening that will be launched when the New Year rolls around. I can’t wait!
